The Amen Break: Tracing Influence and Exposing the Idiocy of Copyright

Nate Harrison’s 2004 video* on the history of the The Winstons’ 1969 6 second”amen break” drum beat is a fascinating look at the importance of influence and how culture accretes, and a great take on why current copyright laws are absolutely idiotic; they do not further culture, they suppress it.

*Thanks to Donnalee Downe for pointing me to it.

For more on the Amen Break itself, BBC did a hour long look at it in 2o11.
