Raven Tanka Diptych to End July

Raven Tanka Diptych to End July

1. The Night Pouring

A raven patrols
July’s last sunset, pouring
the night from its throat—
a sky of black resin set
with stars, a white shard of moon

2. The Cold Moon Clanging

Above late July
lindens, a raven circles—
the cold moon clanging
in the deep bell of his throat
resonant with coming night

About John MacKenzie

I'll mumble for ya. Poetry, plus most things quantifiable: science, neuroscience, memory, epistemology, baseball. And so on.
